How to Add a Video to Your Wix Site That Updates Itself

A Wix site showing one video that updates when a new video is sent from a phone

A video on a Wix site usually means a one-time upload. When your offer or your message changes, you open the editor, upload a new file, fix the layout and publish again. With a Wix video app that updates itself, you do that setup once. After that you update the video from your phone: open the VidUP app, record, hit Send, and your Wix pages show the new video.

This guide covers the steps with the Wix video app, what to expect, and a plain iframe option. It is part of our series on keeping business video current.

What you need

  • A Wix site and access to the Wix editor.
  • A VidUP account. Sign-up gives you a player code.
  • The VidUP app on your phone to record updates.

Add VidUP Player to Wix

VidUP Player is on the Wix App Market and is listed as free to install.

  1. Install the app. Open the VidUP Player listing and add it to your site.
  2. Add the widget. In the Wix editor, add the VidUP Player widget to the page where you want the video.
  3. Open the settings and paste your code. Paste your player code, or your play.vidup.co/<your code> link. The widget checks it for you.
  4. Adjust the look. Choose alignment, maximum width and rounded corners. The player is responsive and keeps a 16:9 shape on every screen size.
  5. Publish your site.

You will not need to return to the editor to change the video.

Update it from your phone

Here is the whole update routine:

  1. Open the VidUP app.
  2. Record a new video or choose one you already have.
  3. Hit Send.
  4. Check your Wix page. The same widget now shows the new video.

No re-uploading, no re-embedding, no editing the site, and no republishing. VidUP is on the App Store for iPhone. On Android, the VidUP web app runs in your phone's browser, and the Google Play app is coming soon.

How a Wix video app can update without changes to the page

The widget does not store a copy of your video. It points at your VidUP player, which has one permanent link. Each send replaces the video behind that link. That is why a Wix site can show a new video without a new embed: nothing about the page changed. You can read more in our explainer on the auto-updating video embed.

VidUP keeps one live video per player, so a new send replaces the previous one. Keep a copy of any clip you want to use again.

Prefer an HTML embed?

If you would rather use a custom embed than the app, add an HTML embed element and paste an iframe that points at your player:

<iframe src="https://play.vidup.co/<your code>" style="aspect-ratio:16/9;width:100%;border:0" allow="autoplay; fullscreen; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen title="Business video"></iframe>

Replace the placeholder with your own player code. It behaves like the widget: the video behind the link is always your latest.

Ideas for what to put in the video

  • A short welcome that says who you are and what you offer.
  • A seasonal message you can swap later without touching the site.
  • A walk-through of one product or service on its page.

The free plan records 10-second takes, and VidUP Pro records 60-second takes. Record landscape so the 16:9 player is filled cleanly.

Using other platforms too?

WordPress sites can use the VidUP Player plugin; see the WordPress video plugin guide. A Shopify app is coming soon, and you can embed in Shopify today. For the overview, read Business video app: what it is and how to choose one.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a Wix video app that updates itself?

Yes. VidUP Player on the Wix App Market shows your VidUP player on your Wix pages. New videos you send replace the old one without any change to the page.

Can I show the same video on several Wix pages?

Does the player work on mobile?
