Privacy Policy
Last updated October 17, 2026
VidUP LLC (“VidUP,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the VidUP websites (including vidup.co and play.vidup.co), progressive web app, native apps, and related services (the “Service”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the Service, you agree to this Policy. For how your content is licensed and hosted, see our Terms of Use.
1. Who this covers
This Policy applies to people who create a VidUP account, record or upload video, use our apps or websites, or load a play.vidup.co player page. If you paste a VidUP player on a site you control, visitors to that site may request video from our player; we process that delivery as described below. This Policy does not cover third-party sites where you embed the player, or Apple / Google billing, which have their own policies.
2. Information we collect
- Name and email: your email address, and your first and last name if you enter them when you sign up or later in Account (name is optional).
- Account: password (stored hashed — we do not store plaintext passwords), plan, account timestamps, your website address (if you add one in Account), and the app you signed up from (iPhone app, Android app, or web).
- User ID and player code: a unique account identifier we assign, and your unique permanent player path (for example play.vidup.co/{code}) tied to your account.
- Videos and images you upload: videos you record in-app or choose from your device, including the encoded file, burned-in mark, duration, dimensions, file size, and format, plus a still poster image made from each video.
- Camera, microphone, and photos: with your permission, the app uses your camera and microphone to record videos and your photo library to choose a video or save a take. We only receive the videos you choose to send; we do not access your other photos or record when you are not recording.
- Captions: optional caption text you add for playback (captions are shown on the player when enabled — not burned into the video file).
- Technical and security: IP address, user agent, approximate request metadata, timestamps, and diagnostic logs needed to operate, secure, and debug the Service. The Android app also sends basic device information (device manufacturer and model, Android version, WebView version, and language settings) with sign-up, sign-in, and upload requests so we can diagnose compatibility problems.
- How you found VidUP and product usage: We record how you found VidUP (for example, the ad or link you clicked) and basic product usage to improve the service. This means the campaign tags (UTM parameters), ad click ID, referring page, and landing page from your first visit, kept on your device for up to 30 days and saved with your account when you sign up; and events such as sign-up, video uploads, opening the Plans screen, starting or canceling Pro, and the website domains where your player is embedded. On vidup.co we also record anonymous page views, whether a visit was engaged (for example scrolling or playing the demo), and taps on the App Store link, along with the general device type (iPhone, Android, or desktop), tied to a random visitor ID stored on your device rather than to your name or email. We do not use advertising pixels (such as the Meta Pixel) and do not send this data to advertising networks. We do use Google Analytics for site analytics, as described below.
- Website analytics: We use Cloudflare Web Analytics on our websites (including play.vidup.co player pages). It is cookieless and gives us aggregate statistics such as page views, referring sites, and page load performance, without cookies or cross-site tracking.
- Google Analytics (vidup.co): Our marketing website vidup.co uses Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors find and use the site (for example pages viewed, campaign tags, and taps on the App Store link). Google Analytics sets cookies (such as
_ga) and Google processes this usage data, including your IP address, on our behalf. We have turned off Google signals and ad personalization for this data. Learn how Google uses this information at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. You can opt out by blocking or deleting cookies in your browser or by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. Google Analytics is not used in the VidUP app or on play.vidup.co player pages. - Cookies and local storage: session cookies or equivalent storage needed to keep you signed in; player preference storage (for example caption on/off) on the device that views the player; and local storage that remembers how you first arrived (for up to 30 days, as described above). Google Analytics cookies are used on vidup.co only, as described above. We do not use advertising cookies on VidUP properties.
- Communications: messages you send to hello@vidup.co, Help / Steve chat, or other get-in-touch channels, and content needed to respond. Steve is VidUP’s AI assistant: messages you type to Steve are processed by Cloudflare Workers AI to generate a reply and are not saved to your VidUP account.
- Purchases and subscription status: paid plans purchased through the Apple App Store or Google Play are processed by those platforms. We receive and store your subscription status (product, status, renewal or expiry date) and the store’s transaction identifier (the App Store original transaction ID or the Google Play purchase token). For Google Play purchases the app also gives Google a coded account ID, derived from your VidUP user ID, so a purchase can be matched to your account. We do not receive your payment card number from those stores.
3. How we use information
- Provide, operate, maintain, and improve the Service (account, player link, video replace, embeds, Help).
- Authenticate you, enforce plan limits (including take length), prevent fraud and abuse, and keep the Service secure.
- Send transactional email (for example a welcome message with your player link) when email sending is enabled. We do not sell your email for marketing lists.
- Comply with law, respond to lawful requests, and enforce our Terms.
- Analyze aggregated or de-identified usage to improve reliability — not to sell your content as advertising inventory.
- Understand which ads, links, and features bring people to VidUP and help them succeed, using our own first-party records.
4. Legal bases (where applicable)
Where required (for example under GDPR/UK GDPR), we process personal data to perform our contract with you, based on your consent where we ask for it, for our legitimate interests in running a secure Service (balanced against your rights), and to meet legal obligations.
5. Where it’s stored and international transfers
Account data, player codes, captions, and subscription status are stored in our Cloudflare-backed database. Video files and poster images are stored in Cloudflare R2 object storage. Email, when enabled, may be sent via Resend. Infrastructure may process data in the United States and other regions where our providers operate. Where required, we rely on appropriate transfer mechanisms offered by those providers.
6. Sharing
We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share information only:
- With infrastructure and email providers who process data on our instructions to run the Service (currently Cloudflare, including Cloudflare Workers AI for Steve; Resend when configured);
- The VidUP app loads a display font from Google Fonts, so your device connects to Google’s servers, which receive your IP address and browser information;
- With Apple or Google as needed for store billing and entitlements;
- When you make your player URL public — anyone with the link can view the current video (and captions if shown);
- If required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, or security of VidUP, our users, or the public;
- In connection with a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, subject to this Policy or successor notice.
7. Your player link and content
You own your recordings. We process them to host and deliver your player. Treat your player URL like a public webpage address. Replacing the video updates what visitors see at the same URL. We do not claim ownership of your footage, sell your videos as a dataset, or use them to train unrelated public AI models.
8. Retention
We keep account and video data while your account is active. When you replace or delete a take, we delete or de-identify the associated video data from active systems within a reasonable period. When you delete your account (on the web at vidup.co/delete-account, or in the app under Account › Delete account), your account, name, email, website address, user ID, player code, videos, poster images, captions, sign-in sessions, sign-up and usage records, and our record of your subscription status are deleted from our active systems immediately. We may keep information we must retain for security, dispute, or legal compliance. Backups and logs may persist for a limited rolling period after deletion.
9. Security
We use industry-standard measures appropriate to the Service (including encrypted transport (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and access controls). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; you use the Service at your own risk regarding residual security risk.
10. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to appeal a denial. California and similar U.S. state laws may also give you rights to know, delete, and opt out of “sale” or “sharing” — we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are commonly defined for advertising. You can delete your account at any time on the web at vidup.co/delete-account (no app needed) or in the app. To exercise other rights, email hello@vidup.co. We will verify requests as required and will not discriminate against you for exercising privacy rights. You may also close your account and stop using the Service.
11. Age requirement
VidUP is not for children. As our Terms of Use require, you must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live) to use the Service, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe someone under 18 has provided personal information, contact hello@vidup.co and we will delete it.
12. Third-party services
Links, embeds on your site, store checkout, and third-party platforms are governed by those parties’ terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for their practices.
13. Changes
We may update this Policy. We will revise the “Last updated” date on this page. Material changes may also be called out in-product or by email when appropriate. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the updated Policy.
